Replacement Ignition Controller CDI.

Generator Guru says:
This part controls the ignition and can be found on the side of the Inverter or on the control panel. The Ignition Controller CDI provides fault warnings and determines whether ignition will take place. Please see below for a short troubleshooting guide.

If the generator is failing to start, firstly check for a spark. If you have a spark, then the problem is in the fuel system. If you have no spark then you need to determine which part of the ignition system has failed.

Either clean the spark plug and then use a spark tester on the spark plug or replace it to rule this out.

Next, check the oil and then disconnect the Low Oil Sensor by disconnecting the two wires that run from the base of the engine where the oil sensor is located and then check for spark. If you have a spark then the Low Oil Sensor has failed, if not continue to the next step.

If you still have no spark, then you need to check for continuity across the Ignition Coil, its HT Lead, Spark Plug Cap and body. If the Ignition Coil checks OK, then replace your Ignition Controller CDI.

Also if you notice that while the generator is functioning and you are have AC output but the green output light is not showing then you will need to check for accurate AC output, if the output is accurate then replace the Ignition Controller CDI, if it is not accurate then you will need to examine the inverter and more information can be found on that listing.

You will need to undo the screw and remove the Round Fuel On/Off Switch from the front of the Generator before removing the Housing. When taking apart the Generator Housing to replace the Part, be sure you take note of all the small parts that make up the support of the Engine to the Housing, and how they fit back together. This can be a tricky job, so assistance from another person when taking the Housing apart and reassembling it, might make the job much easier and quicker!
