If you Generator has been sitting for a while, Ignition Coils can fail, as the conducting metal on ignition coils are prone to rusting due to the metal components required for the production of a spark. The rusting can lead to the connection with the flywheel failing, resulting in a loss of spark. This is the part you will need to replace if this happens.
When fitting the replacement use a business card to set the distance between the magnet on the flywheel and the ignition coil. The depth of the business card is the correct setting and it prevents the magnet grabbing the ignition coil while you do up the retaining bolts.
