Generator Guru says:

These sometimes wear out, mainly if they are stored or used in damp/wet places. Rain can make them rust and will need replacing if you are not getting any voltage from wires while turning engine. Attach a drill to the recoil connector nut to turn engine when testing. This is easier, especially if you are on your own and will save you hurting you shoulder.

You will need to undo the screw and remove the Round Fuel On/Off Switch from the front of the Generator before removing the Housing. When taking apart the Generator Housing to replace the Part, be sure you take note of all the small parts that make up the support of the Engine to the Housing, and how they fit back together. This can be a tricky job, so assistance from another person when taking the Housing apart and reassembling it, might make the job much easier and quicker!
