**We also strongly suggest you replace the Carb Gaskets when replacing the carb. If the previous gaskets are worn or split they will not make a seal, allowing excess air into the fuel mix, resulting in difficulty to start and run your engine. A broken gasket seal can cause hours of excess work.**

Modern fuel has ethanol added. Ethanol is a cleaning agent used to "fill out" fuel and to reduce harmful emissions. The concentration of ethanol added to fuel can damage your carb if left for any length of time. Usually leaving a slimy residue in the bottom of the carb bowl, damaging seals and clogging the workings within the carb, preventing it from mixing the air and fuel correctly. This will often result in the need to replace the float needle, and to strip the rest of the carb to clean and inspect for damage.
When you re-assemble the carb, make sure to set the air screw (brass screw with spring) 1.5 turns open from fully closed. This will make setting up the carb much easier, and mean that you should only have to adjust the speed screw found on the top of the carb.
