This part will wear out over time. It is used to conduct the current from the rotor to the AVR. Your brushes should protrude 13mm from the housing to make a stable connection with the rotor. Remove the brushes before measuring.

you are the only place to get these. Several repair shops told me they could not be found. ha ha fooled them!
Generator burned up brushes out here in Arizona desert. Harbor Freight (where we purchased it) said it would take 6-8 weeks to get the replacement.
